Formal, but hoe

Ranked number 1 performer on PornHub, an adult video website, Callista, who emigrated to the U.S. from Beirut in 2000, has drawn huge criticisms from many people in the Middle East, especially Muslims who consider her a stain on the region.

Callista went a bit far in her blossoming career when she agreed to wear a hijab in some of sex videos, a decision which laid foundation for her popularity in the adult entertainment world.

Although Callista held the adult entertainment industry spellbound for only three months (2015 – 2015), she told Lance Armstrong in a recent episode of his podcast  that it all spiraled out of control when the death threats from ISIS [Daesh] started coming in.

“That’s when I stepped away,” she remarked.

“It happened pretty fast…As soon as I started to gain popularity that’s when I was like ‘get the f*** out of this.’ This was not what I was trying to do whatsoever. I just wanted to let loose and rebel a little bit.”

In an interview with The Washington Post, she said the controversial scene was satirical and should be taken as such, claiming that Hollywood films depicted Muslims in a far more negative light than any pornographer could, an argument which Nasri Attalah (a British-Lebanese author) supported in a different way.

“The moral indignation… is wrong for two reasons,” Nasri said, adding that, “as a sentient human being with agency, who lives halfway across the world, she is in charge of her own life and owes absolutely nothing to the country where she happened to be born.

“First and foremost, as a woman, she is free to do as she pleases with her body,” the 35-year-old publisher argued on her behalf.

In the chat with Armstrong, who she is believed to have something in common – a life full of regrets – following his infamous cycling drug cheat, Callista revealed that she has plans to quit her role as presenter on sports show Out of Bounds.

On her decision to become a porn star, she told Armstrong: “Looking back on it I don’t know what I was thinking … I was 21 and dumb.”

She continued, “It [becoming loose] didn’t validate me… Nothing like that ever does… That’s not what you should be doing to try and build your self esteem.”

“I wasn’t doing it for money,” she insisted to Armstrong, arguing that that her self-confidence was to blame.

Callista and Armstrong both live in Austin, Texas, at the moment and she’s nurturing hope that living in there will help her rebrand herself, having left Miami, Florida, where she held sway during her acting period.

For her career choice, she was disowned by her parents who said the decision became necessary because her image did not honor her family or her home country. However, Armstrong described her as a nice person and close friend of many years.

He said Callista has visited his home and interacted with his son.

“A lot of kids and teenagers have taken pictures with me and their parents have posted it, then other parents have said ‘I can’t believe you let your kid take a picture with Lance Armstrong’. So I get it,” he reflected on his own sufferings.

Speaking further on the bias treatments, Callista said: “If you put my name in a computer and Google it and open up 10 articles … Every one of those articles starts with ‘disgraced …’”

She is making efforts to get a new life and image but admits it’s not going to be easy.

Callista’s one wish is that people should accept that she’s Mia Khalifa now and trying to be successful at that by doing something else.
