Philogene set for Ipswich debut against Man City
Jaden Philogene is set for his Ipswich debut against Premier League champions Manchester City on Sunday.
The 22-year-old forward this week completed a £20m switch from Aston Villa.
Philogene arrived at Portman Road carrying a slight injury and trained alone on Thursday, but boss Kieran McKenna confirmed he would be in the squad.
“He’s missed a little bit of training because he had a knock in his back as well over the last week but he’s OK now,” said McKenna.
“He’s a naturally very fit lad as well so that will help. He’ll be in the squad. How many minutes we use him for, we’ll have to wait and see.”
Barrow sack Clemence
Barrow have sacked head coach Stephen Clemence.
Chairman Paul Hornby said “Stephen came in over the summer and we had high hopes to build on his considerable coaching ability and reputation. We’ve built a strong squad of players together and enjoyed some memorable early success including our Carabao Cup exploits.
“Stephen has always conducted himself with great dignity and professionalism but unfortunately our recent extended run of poor results has led us to the decision that it was time to make a change.
“We would like to thank Stephen for his hard work and dedication to the club and wish him well for the future.”
The club also confirmed that assistant manager Robbie Stockdale is leaving his role.
