Josep Maria Bartomeu confirmed that Barcelona are considering a move for Valencia forward Rodrigo Moreno, reports from Spanish media confirm.
After it was confirmed that Luis Suarez would miss the rest of the season after knee surgery, the club are in the market for a replacement.
Barcelona and Valencia are said to be negotiating a deal for the former Real Madrid and Benfica man.
“We don’t talk about players from other teams. But [Rodrigo’s] name is on the table of the coaches.
“And a replacement will arrive. I do not know whether it will be from Barcelona B or from outside [the club].
“I like many players.”
One player Barcelona will hope to keep around for as long as possible is Leo Messi, but Bartomeu stressed that he has the freedom to decide his fate.
“He will be done with Barcelona when he wants. His relationship with Barcelona is forever…He has plenty more football to play here. Leo Messi will be around for a while,” he stressed,” Bartomeu said.
A defeat to Valencia on the weekend has alarm bells ringing at the Camp Nou once again, yet the president was keen to call for calm.
“I’m not worried. We are working and trying hard…It’s all to play for, both LaLiga Santander and the Champions League…We Barcelona fans worry about our team.
“We have just lost but the Copa del Rey tie against Leganes is approaching, and then LaLiga. This doesn’t stop…We have a new coach in Setien and we are confident in what he is doing.”
