Atletico Madrid have agreed a deal in principle with Wolves to sign midfielder Joao Gomes. 

A fee totalling £39m (€45m) has been settled between the clubs and work is being finalised to make him an Atletico player when the transfer window re-opens next month.

Gomes is set to say farewell to Wolves fans in their final game of the season away at also-relegated Burnley on Sunday. 

The 25-year-old Brazilian, who did not make Carlo Ancelotti’s World Cup squad, signed for Wolves from Flamengo in 2023 and played more than 100 times for the West Midlands club.
