Arsenal are on the brink of completing a double transfer raid on Manchester United, with two of the Red Devils’ brightest young prospects reportedly in London to finalize their moves to the Emirates.
According to the Manchester Evening News, James Scanlon and Habeen Ogynneye were in the capital on Thursday to put the finishing touches on their respective transfers to Arsenal. Both players are expected to join the Gunners’ U21 squad, where they will link up once again with former coach David Horseman.
Scanlon, a 19-year-old left winger, has already amassed 24 senior international caps for Gibraltar—the country of his mother’s origin. He spent the second half of last season on loan at Swindon Town in League Two, where he scored once in 16 appearances. Ogynneye, a 20-year-old right-back, had a similar loan spell at Newport County during the first half of the campaign, making 21 appearances and finding the net once.
The moves represent the latest chapter in a growing transfer pipeline between the two Premier League giants. In 2024, United snapped up striker Chido Obi from Arsenal, and followed that up with the signing of defender Ayden Heaven from the Gunners in early 2025.
Arsenal have already secured the signing of Elijah Upson—son of former England defender Matthew Upson—and are also pursuing a deal for Crystal Palace’s Mylo Bernard. While the focus remains on bolstering the club’s youth ranks, the Gunners are also actively looking to strengthen their first-team squad before the summer transfer window slams shut.
