Barcelona midfielder Arda Turan has apologized to Turkey fans on behalf of his teammates after the country’s 1-0 defeat to Croatia in the first match of Group D at Euro 2016 on Sunday.

Arda was replaced on the hour at Parc des Princes by Burak Yilmaz as his efforts on the pitch disappointed many fans, bringing to mind his Barca struggles which has persisted.
The Turkey captain admitted he let his teammates down as he spoke with the press in a post-match interview.
“I didn’t play well, but my colleagues fought hard. I apologize to the Turkish people.
“Croatia are a good team, we did everything possible and could’ve got a draw, but we keep our heads held high, can still overcome the group stage and achieve something important.
“We have to be united. We played well today, but sometimes it’s the individuals that make the difference. I hope we play better against Spain and beat them.”
