‘Too soon to say’ if strikes will impact US – Iraq relations, says American official

A US official has said that it is “too soon to say” whether or not the recent airstrikes will impact relations between Washington and Baghdad.

The US is currently in negotiations with Iraqi officials to withdraw some troops from Iraq.

Asked by NBC News whether or not they felt these talks would be impacted by the airstrikes in the region, the official said it was “too soon” to tell.

The official went on to say a damage assessment of targets is still being conducted and will be released by the Pentagon when complete.

They added that if the assessment finds that some targets were not fully destroyed, we should expect a second round of strikes on those locations.
