Algeria Floods: 870 Households Affected, Farmland Damaged in Mascara Province

Flash floods caused by heavy rainfall have affected 870 households in Algeria’s Mascara province, with 20 people killed in the village of Oued El Fekan, local authorities reported Saturday.

The Civil Protection Directorate said flooding damaged around 25% of the area’s farmland, impacting both crops and livestock. Relief efforts are ongoing to assist affected families, with authorities working to assess the full extent of the damage.

The heavy rains also caused significant infrastructure damage, with road closures reported across the province. Emergency services have been deployed to provide shelter, food, and medical assistance to displaced residents.

The incident occurred earlier this week, with authorities continuing to monitor weather conditions and provide support to affected communities.
