Aldi Recall: FDA Says Frozen Products May Be Contaminated with Rodent Hair

A popular frozen product sold at Aldi has been recalled in two states due to possible contamination with rodent hair, the Food and Drug Administration announced Monday.

The Simply Nature Spinach Bites were initially pulled from shelves in January. On March 16, the FDA classified the recall as Class II, meaning the risk of serious health problems is low.

Which Frozen Products Were Recalled?

The recalled items, produced by Dr. Praeger’s Sensible Foods Inc., can be identified with the following:

  • Product name: Simply Nature Spinach Bites
  • Size: 12 oz
  • Lot number: G25CF-02B
  • Product number: AL-SP
  • UPC: 4099100247992
  • Affected quantity: 7894 units

The products were distributed to Aldi stores in Maryland and Pennsylvania.

What You Should Do

If you’re an Aldi shopper, check your freezer for the recalled snack. The FDA did not give specific instructions, but as a Class II recall, the safest options are to throw away or return the product.
