AFCON 2025 qualifier: Super Eagles players stranded, ‘sick’ in Libya

Super Eagles players are said to be “sick and exhausted” after they were delayed at the Al Abaq Airport for over 13 hours.

The team’s chartered plane was diverted to the small airport, just as the pilot was completing his approach to the Benghazi Airport on Sunday night.

Since then, the Nigerian delegation has been left without food, beds and security.

According to OgaNla Media, the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier scheduled for Tuesday is in danger of being played.

“I’m not sure if the game will be held tomorrow or in this window.

“The players are sick and exhausted.

“The Nigerian government has been contacted and plans are ongoing to provide security for the team.

“It is now a security issue. The team has been held hostage for hours,” OgaNla Media wrote on X.
