Position Overview
The Enrollment Management division is a key player in this activity and has a profound effect on the institution’s success. More than perhaps any other factor, the degree to which a university attracts and retains qualified students determines the success or failure of that institution. Enrollment Management (EM) includes the following functional units: Office of Undergraduate Admissions, Graduate Enrollment Management, Financial Aid and Scholarships, Office of the University Registrar, Student Lifecycle Technology, Enrollment Marketing Communications, and Enrollment Management Services. The division is committed to developing a data-informed, forward-looking, comprehensive enrollment strategy that enables the institution to pursue strategic goals in an integrated and intentional manner.

A key member of the admissions team, an Admissions Representative must have a passion for the University of Kansas, be highly motivated, goal-oriented and have the ability to articulate the values and objectives of the University of Kansas to attract, recruit, admit and enroll a high-quality student population to meet the enrollment goals of KU. The admissions team is highly trained in university information and recruitment tactics to provide the highest level of service and understanding of students from various backgrounds, interests and experiences. The Admissions Representative position is a combination of people facing responsibilities as well as effectively managing administrative tasks. This position reports to the Assistant Director of International Recruitment who seeks to expand a cohesive, collaborative and productive team.

Duties include communicating daily and building relationships both in person and virtually with prospective students and families and school counselors. Admission representatives manage correspondence, coordinate on- and off-campus recruitment responsibilities, and organize a travel schedule. Admissions representatives are responsible for interpreting data to tailor outreach efforts to students in different parts of the world with the goal of elevating KU’s market position and profile. Intranational and domestic travel may be required. Some evening and weekend work is required. Personal KU experience and general knowledge of the university are required.

Job Description
50% International Recruitment

  • Utilizes both in-person and digital strategies to recruit future international Jayhawks in targeted regions based on the strategic recruitment plan, meeting and exceeding goals when opportunities exist
  • Collaborates with Assistant Director and a supportive team to analyze data and past productivity to devise, implement and assess recruitment plan and strategy in the assigned territory, which can include traveling internationally to visit high schools, attend college fairs, area receptions, and events
  • Engages prospective international students in their Jayhawk journey communicating about academic programs, processes, and services to a wide range of prospective students and families.
  • Advises international students and families of admission and scholarship requirements and/or transfer guidelines.
  • Manages multiple communication channels to provide timely responses to prospective students and families across internal and external platforms.
  • Manages Outlook calendar to maximize efficiencies in travel, meetings, expense reports and other business operations.

45% Staffing, Marketing, and Organizing On-and-Off Campus Recruitment Events

  • Delivers in-person and virtual presentations to small and large groups of prospective students, families, and community stakeholders, communicating KU’s competitive advantages both on and off campus.
  • Plans and executes individual meetings with prospective students and families in virtual, on-campus, and off-campus settings.
  • Coordinates and plans fall and spring webinars, including outreach to academic departments and collaboration with the Enrollment Marketing and Communications team to set up events in Slate and develop related student communications.
  • Collaborates with the Assistant Director and Enrollment Marketing and Communications team to review communications distributed throughout each recruitment cycle, provide feedback on messaging and materials, and support updates to recruitment and marketing content.
  • Coordinates with in-country representatives to schedule and facilitate virtual one-on-one meetings through Slate.
  • Collaborates with the Assistant Director to support international recruitment agents through daily communication, training, and relationship management.
  • Work with the international student ambassador on different recruitment initiatives

5% Consults with the Assistant Director of Freshman Recruitment

  • Assists with presentations, team-building initiatives, and other leadership responsibilities within the international recruitment team as assigned by the Assistant Director and Director.
  • Supports additional projects and responsibilities assigned by the Assistant Director and Director.
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

  1. Valid/current driver’s license and a passport or ability to obtain one at time of appointment.

Required Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree required at time of appointment.
  2. Three months presentation experience (evidenced by coursework, extra-curricular activities, or professional presentations).
  3. Strong written communication skills as evidenced by the application materials.
  4. Experience as a KU student, as evidenced by application materials.

This position requires a formal degree in the cited discipline area(s) to ensure that candidates have advanced knowledge, analytical skills and professional competencies necessary to perform the duties of the position. The level of degree is commonly recognized as the standard qualification for similar roles in the public and private sector, ensuring that the university remains competitive with industry aligned practices, enhances collaboration with external partners, and supports the delivery of services and programs that meet professional and market-driven expectations.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Experience in effectively communicating in a wide range of professional settings, as evidenced by application materials.
  2. Bilingual proficiency with demonstrated ability to speak and write in more than one language, as evidenced by application materials.
  3. Basic proficiency with digital communication tools and platforms (e.g., email, virtual meeting platforms, CRM or student information systems), as evidenced by application materials.
  4. Experience exercising initiative, decision-making and self-discipline, as evidenced in application materials.
  5. Experience working with a wide range of student populations, including transfer, high-ability, low-income, first generation, geographic regions, middle school, high school, and non-traditional students, as evidenced in application materials.
  6. Experience in public relations, marketing, advertising or university admissions, as evidenced in application materials.
  7. Ability to effectively organize time and tasks, as evidenced by application materials.
