Approximately 24 schools in England have been told to close entirely, PA news agency has estimated.
More schools could be told they need to shut classrooms, schools minister Nick Gibb has admitted.
Some 104 educational institutions were told to close buildings just as pupils were set to return from the summer holidays, and another 50 were already disrupted this year.
As evidence-gathering continues, Mr Gibb told GB News: “There may be more after that as these questionnaires continue to be surveyed and we continue to do more surveying work”.
Those parents who have not been contacted by their school “shouldn’t worry”, he said.
Officials believe that only a “small number” of further schools will make closures once surveyors complete their inspections.
