3 Sexually Transmitted Diseases Hit Another Record High In The U.S., Records From CDC Show.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the United States of America released a report on sexually related diseases October 18. The statistics show three sex-spread infections have hit another record high.

Chlamydia (kluh-MID’-ee-uh) was the most common in the country.

The report says more than 1.5 million cases of Chlamydia were reported last year, an increase of up to 6 percent when compared to the record from 2014.

According to a report from News Max, nearly 400,000 gonorrhea (gah-nuh-REE’-uh) cases were reported, and the record shows a 13 percent increase. In addition, there were about 24,000 cases of the most contagious forms of syphilis soaring up to a record 19 percent from the previous year.

Though the three infections are treatable with antibiotics, the news outlet quotes officials at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as saying that “part of the growth may be due to better testing and diagnosis but much of it is a real increase”.

The CDC which released these new records said it doesn’t know exactly why the listed sexually transmitted diseases are on the increase in a highly literate society like America.

 An estimated 20 million cases of sexually transmitted infections occur each year in the U.S., News Max added in the report.
