A 45-year-old man has been detained after two people were killed in a shooting, the National Police of Ukraine has said.
Three other people were injured in the incident and have been taken to hospital, it added.
It said the force received a report this afternoon from the village of Dobrovody in the western city of Ternopil that a man dressed in a military uniform fired several shots from an automatic weapon.
The suspect fled the scene and a special police operation was launched to find him.
“Law enforcement officers established the identity of the suspect and his possible direction of movement,” it said on Telegram.
“He turned out to be a 45-year-old resident of the Zhytomyr region. The police took away his weapon.”
The force said the circumstances leading to the incident were still being established.
