While Apple Inc’s latest announcement about an event that the tech giant is planing to hold on September 12 put an end to the rumors about the company’s big plans during its famous ‘September launch month’ this year – the announcement has also led to further speculation.
Fans, analysts, and even rivals are asking just one question: Will Apple launch a new iPhone?
For years now, the tech giant has released its new phone models in the second week of September.
The company also often shares updates about its other product lines, including the Apple Watch, at such events.
In its announcement on Thursday, Apple said that it will host an event on September 12 at its campus in the Steve Jobs Theater in the company’s Cupertino, California.
The company is widely expected to unveil new iPhone models at the event and analysts have gone as far as saying that they believe Apple plans to release three new smartphones this year.
Analysts have predicted that the tech giant will release one model with a larger display than previous models.
Further, the company is also expected to release an iPhone with an edge-to-edge display – which would be similar to the iPhone X but would use a less-costly LCD screen technology.
Further, with Apple not letting anything slip before the big event – those that have kept a close eye on Apple’s techniques to drop easter eggs and little hints pointed out that the company’s event invitation made heavy use of the colour gold.
This fueled widespread speculation online that the company might launch a gold-coloured successor to the iPhone X.
Earlier this year, documents filed by the company at the U.S. Federal Communications Commission, that were unsealed earlier this year showed that Apple had sought approval for a gold version of its iPhone X, but it never released the color.
