Roberto Murgita will be in charge in Monday’s away match against Sassuolo.
Daniele De Rossi, Paolo Vanoli and Luca Gotti are in the running to replace the former Arsenal midfielder.
The club released a statement, saying: “Genoa CFC announces that Patrick Vieira is no longer the coach of the First Team.
“The club would like to thank the coach and his staff for the seriousness and professionalism shown during their work and wishes them all the best for the continuation of their professional careers.
“The technical guidance of the First Team has been entrusted to interim to coach Roberto Murgita assisted by coach Domenico Criscito.”
