Israel says it is not planning to hold direct talks ‌with Lebanon in the coming days, contradicting reports by Haaretz.

Yesterday, the Israeli news outlet cited sources saying Israel and Lebanon were soon to send representatives, with Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner representing Washington in the peace efforts.

Asked to confirm the report today, foreign minister Gideon Saar: “The answer is no.”

More than 800,000 people have been displaced by Israeli strikes on Lebanon, and 800 have been killed, according to Lebanese officials.

French President Emmanuel Macron offered to host peace talks in Paris yesterday.
