Woman Commits suicide in Prison after pushing Husband out of a 17-Storey Building

A heartless woman from Oklahoma has finally taken her own life, five years after she allegedly killed her husband by pushing him down from a 17-storey building. She was convicted in a U.S. law court for the murder.

According to a report from PEOPLE, the Oklahoma Department of Corrections confirmed that Amber Hilberling, now 25 years old, was found guilty of the crime though she claimed to have acted in self-defense.

As karma would have it, another inmate found the 25-year-old prisoner had committed suicide on Monday. The discovery was made at 5:20 p.m.

Amber was found hanging from the bunk bed of her cell.

The deceased was in a medium-security housing unit at the Mabel Bassett Correctional Center in McLoud, Oklahoma, according to a news release from the DOC.

Though the medical staff on ground made several attempts to save her life, she was pronounced dead on the scene at 5:33 p.m., corrections officials said.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner preliminarily ruled Amber’s death as suicide by hanging.

An official statement from the DOC says Office of the Inspector General is carrying out investigations and will release further details later. No foul play was suspected.

Amber was responsible for the death of her husband, Josh Hilberling, who she murdered in 2011.She was convicted of second-degree murder and sentenced to serve a 25-year jail sentence in 2013, according to a report from NBC News.

The murderer who was 19 years old and seven months pregnant at the time of her husband’s death, said she didn’t intend to kill him.

Amber and Josh has a troubled relationship and fought in their apartment on that fateful day. They were at the 17th floor of University Club Tower where she pushed Josh to his death. He was an Air Force veteran with the United States Army.

Her conviction was upheld in 2014 by the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals, CBS News reported.

Mrs Hilberling claimed she pushed her husband out of the window in self-defense after fearing he would kill her during a fight.

Josh was 23 years old when he died.

Earlier in February, Amber was reportedly granted an interview. She said on Dr. Phil: “He reached out and grabbed me. And I was pregnant. And he didn’t care.

“I pushed him off me,” Amber claimed.

A report from the Tulsa World quotes the accused as adding to her statements that: “The window wasn’t supposed to happen.”

A seemingly heart-broken Amber said on Dr. Phil that it was purely a mistake without any hidden intentions. She blamed Josh for being abusive in their relationship.

In her words: “I loved Josh very much. I stayed with him for as long as I could. They painted me as a monster. It was breaking my heart just to have him leave. So to intend to kill somebody that you love that much, it couldn’t be plausible”

Contrary to Amber’s claim that she had a fight with her husband before he died, prosecutors who put her trial say there was no evidence that the couple actually had a fight.

Investigators argued that the window showed no sign of a struggle – a proof that her claim on self-defense was fabricated, according to the report from CBS.

Prosecutors said even if they had a fight and she claims Josh’s death was not intentional, she was still guilty for “showing a disregard for life by pushing him toward the window”.

A Facebook post from Josh’s family after they got news of Amber’s death, was spine-tingling. Not exactly what most people would have expected.

The social media message posted on Monday reads: “We heard that Amber Hilberling hung herself in prison this evening. We know how it feels to lose a child. I wouldn’t wish that on anyone. It’s something no parent should have to experience. Condolences to those who loved her.”

Meanwhile, a post from Oklahoma’s News on 6 quotes Amber’s mother, Rhonda Whitlock, from her Facebook message after Amber’s death.

She wrote: “Fly baby girl to the angels, away from the pain on this earth.

“I hate what this world did to you.”

She continued: “Go rest in the arms of Jesus…

“The media, the haters, the Hilberling’s got their wish. Hope they are happy. I will never stop fighting for the truth.”
