Weinstein did all kinds of unpleasant things to me – Uma Thurman

Harvey Weinstein has fired back at Uma Thurman for counting herself as one of the numerous women suffered from his recklessness, and is threatening legal actions after denying allegations that he “acted rudely.”

Weinstein, 65, responded to Thurman’s claims by releasing pictures he said, shows they shared a “strong relationship.”

The American film producer and co-founder of Miramax claims he has had a cordial relationship with Thurman over the years, and neither made an “awkward pass” at her nor “misread any signals from her” as she claims.

Following Thurman’s appearance on today’s New York Times publication, Weinstein threatened a lawsuit, and his lawyer, Ben Brafman, says his team is considering the best legal approach.

“Ms. Thurman’s statements to the Times are being carefully examined and investigated before deciding whether any legal action against her would be appropriate,” Brafman said.

There are fears that the threats from Weinstein and his lawyer could be potentially hollow if no less ugly, considering such is a typical response for many of the men accused of sexual misconduct in recent months.

An actual lawsuit, if that ever happens, could put the producer himself into court and under rules of discovery.

Weinstein’s team of publicists have insisted that there was no physical contact during Mr. Weinstein’s “awkward pass,” adding that the accused person is saddened and puzzled as to ‘why’ Ms. Thurman, someone he considers a colleague and a friend, waited 25 years to make these allegations public.

The New York City star also noted that he and Ms. Thurman “have shared a very close and mutually beneficial working relationship where they have made several very successful film projects together.”

“He used to spend hours talking to me about material and complimenting my mind and validating me. It possibly made me overlook warning signs,” Thurman told Dowd, according to the opinion piece released by NY Times.

She continued: “It was such a bat to the head. He pushed me down. He tried to shove himself on me. He tried to expose himself. He did all kinds of unpleasant things…But he didn’t actually put his back into it and force me. You’re like an animal wriggling away, like a lizard. I was doing anything I could to get the train back on the track. My track. Not his track.”

On the claims from Uma Thurman, here is a press release from Weinstein’s spokesperson Holly K. Baird:

We have pulled a number of images that demonstrate the strong relationship Mr. Weinstein and Ms. Thurman had had over the years and we wish the New York Times would have published them.

Mr. Weinstein acknowledges making an awkward pass 25 years ago at Ms. Thurman in England after misreading her signals, after a flirtatious exchange in Paris, for which he immediately apologized and deeply regrets. However, her claims about being physically assaulted are untrue. And this is the first time we have heard those details.

There was no physical contact during Mr. Weinstein’s awkward pass and Mr. Weinstein is saddened and puzzled as to “why” Ms. Thurman, someone he considers a colleague and a friend, waited 25 years to make these allegations public, noting that he and Ms. Thurman have shared a very close and mutually beneficial working relationship where they have made several very successful film projects together.

This is the first time we are hearing that she considered Mr. Weinstein an enemy and the pictures of their history tell a completely different story.

There will be more are detailed response later from Mr. Weinstein’s attorney, Ben Brafman.

With dozens of sexual harassment lawsuits lined up against Weinstein, the multiple awards winner is scheduled to sit for a deposition in April in his own lawsuit against The Weinstein Company.

    1. He did all sorts of things to you and you waited until everyone was talking? What rubbish! You could have saved many other women from those harrowing experiences from a man who has no remorse or feelings except between his legs.

      1. Good riddance to bad rubbish. How’s the prick doing these days? Still in rehab?

      2. Terrible. Where is this man now? The world seem to be very kind with rapists. He should be in jail not getting rehab.
