An Ohio woman has been arrested for allegedly raping a 4-year-old boy on January 4 and sharing the video clip on social media, police say.
India Kirksey, 20, of West Price Hill was arrested on Monday and booked into the Hamilton County Jail, WXIX confirmed.
She has been charged for felony rape and has been remanded in custody. PEOPLE reported that she’s yet to enter a plea, and it’s unclear whether she has sought help from an attorney.
A report from WLWT quotes prosecutors as saying that Kirksey recorded herself performing a sex act on the child, and posted the footage on a social media sharing site Periscope.
Someone in Texas saw the video and contacted Cincinnati-area authorities, investigators said.
Kirksey’s family member claims the suspect knows what she did was wrong but asked the general public for mercy.
The 20-year-old has “special needs,” she said, adding that the family has taken her for therapies but all efforts proved abortive.
Cincinnati police say that Kirksey gave them a taped confession, according to the criminal complaint.
A judge set her bond at $350,000 Monday morning.
