The ban is yet to be made public, The State reported.

Lochte will be unable to compete at the 2017 World Championships to be held in Hungary, CNN said citing a source with knowledge of the situation.

The 32-year-old gold medalist was charged by Brazilian police together with other three U.S. swimmers who falsely testified in Lochte’s favor. All four Americans claimed they were robbed at gunpoint while returning to their hotel after a night party.

In their claims, Lochte said the men who robbed them flashed police badges, insinuating that “police in Brazil” are corrupt.

Further investigations later proved that the athletes lied.

Defamed Lochte finally admitted that his earlier account on the incident was an “over exaggeration.”

Brazilian police said the swimmers vandalized a bathroom door at a gas station and were confronted by armed security guards.

Ryan Lochte lost his swimwear contract endorsements from Speedo and Ralph Lauren in the aftermath of his bad behavior.

Speedo said it would donate 50,000 dollars to the charity Save The Children to help Brazilian children.
