Texas Coffee Company recalls Products with Viagra-like substance

A company in Texas, USA, has recalled its coffee supplies after a viagra-like substance was discovered in the products.

The affected company issued a voluntary recall in order to avoid health complications which may arise from consuming the substance similar to one used in Viagra, according to an official notice from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration notice.

An FDA testing discovered the presence of desmethyl carbodenafil in the products from Bestherbs Coffee LLC, according to the FDA.

Bestherbs Coffee followed up with an immediate recall of all unused the New of Kopi Jantan Traditional Natural Herbs Coffee.

“Desmethyl carbodenafil is structurally similar to sildenafil, the active ingredient in Viagra, an FDA-approved prescription drug for erectile dysfunction,” the FDA said in a statement.

The product also contained undeclared milk, according to the FDA.

“While the New of Kopi Jantan Tradisional Natural Herbs Coffee is marketed as a male enhancement product, the desmethyl carbodenafil could interact with nitrates in some prescription drugs and possibly lower blood pressure to dangerous levels,” the FDA said in a statement.

The product was sold online and distributed to customers across the country.

Bestherbs Coffee LLC said it will refund customers who return the product to Coffee LLC, 4250 Claremont Dr, Grand Prairie, Texas, 75052.
