A father has laid claims against prison authorities in Venezuela, saying his prisoner-son was dismembered and eaten by a notorious cannibal during a September bloody gang war among inmates.

One notorious flesh-eater named Dorangel Vargas has been accused for the crime.

The missing person, Juan Carlos Herrera Jr, was allegedly attacked with knives, hanged and decapitated. The blood-thirsty and flesh-hungry cannibals went ahead to eat his body.

According to a report from Metro, the 25-year-old was a killed in a month-long prison siege at Táchira Detention Center.

During the prison riot which broke out on September 8, a total of eight visitors and two guards were taken hostage. And critics blame the uprising on overcrowding, claiming that around 350 men had been jampacked into the prison facility meant to hold only 120, according to The Daily Telegraph.

The deceased, Herrera Jr was jailed in 2015 for robbery and unfortunately, was caught up in the prison gang war, Metro reported.

His father, Juan Carlos Herrara Sr, told local media that a fellow inmate who witnessed his son’s brutal murder gave him details. “My son and two others were taken by 40 people, stabbed, hanged to bleed, and then Dorancel butchered them to feed all detainees,” he claims.

Dorancel “people-eater” Vargas was jailed in 1999 for cannibalism.

He continued: “They cut them up and fed them to several [of the fellow inmates], they made the bones disappear. Dorancel cut the flesh.”

Herrera Sr isn’t asking for too much from the authorities who admitted his son was among the missing prisoners, he’s begging police to give him just one bone so his family can hold a burial and try to move on.

Herrera Sr told the media in the morning: “The [inmate] with whom I spoke to told me that he was beaten with a hammer [in order] to force him to eat the remains of the two boys.”

However, the Minster of Correctional Affairs, Iris Varela, confirmed two inmates have disappeared but denied claims they were victims of cannibalism.

Reports confirm the economic situation in Venezuela is critical, and food shortage has forced citizens to abandon their pets in the street. People have had to choose between feeding their family or the animals.
