Prince Harry offers a clue on the royal baby’s name

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have welcomed their son into the world but we can’t wait to learn of the royal baby‘s name.

Will it be Arthur, Henry or what?

The Duchess of Sussex gave birth to the couple’s first child with her husband by her side but, in a break from royal tradition, the couple will not pose for photos outside the hospital before taking their new arrival home.

Here’s the Buckingham Palace statement: “Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex was safely delivered of a son at 0526hrs.

“The baby weighs 7lbs 3oz.”

The statement continues: “The Duke of Sussex was present for the birth.

“The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Lady Jane Fellowes, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Earl Spencer have been informed and are delighted with the news.

“The Duchess’s mother, Doria Ragland, who is overjoyed by the arrival of her first grandchild, is with Their Royal Highnesses at Frogmore Cottage .

“Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well.”

And while no name has been officially announced, has Prince Harry just dropped a major hint as to what his son will be called.

he Duke of Sussex, gushing about his happy news from Windsor, said: “I’m very excited to announce that Meghan and myself had a baby boy this morning, a very healthy baby boy.”

And as Harry spoke outside the stables, two names of the horses were clearly visible – George and Sir John.

While Harry’s nephew, Prince George, has already bagged one of the names, could the new dad be hinting he and Meghan are planning to call their baby boy John?

The couple have said they will announce the newest royal’s name at a later date.

However there is one thing that we know for sure – the little one will not be a prince unless  the Queen steps in. That’s because King George V – Harry’s great great grandfather – limited titles within the royal family in 1917.

This means Harry and Meghan’s first born, as a great-grandchild of the Queen, is too far down the line of succession to be an HRH.

The baby is seventh in the line, pushing Princess Eugenie to 10th place.
