A Malaysian woman has revealed that barely a week after she hired a private driver and got robbed as part of the ‘paid services,’ she and her partner have lost their unborn baby.

Ms Wong Mei Yan, the robbery victim, says she had hoped to have her baby sometime next year but regrets that the dream is all gone thanks to a Uber driver’s love for ill-gotten wealth.
The incident occurred on 21 May, 2017, near the One Puchong Business Centre, between 9:30pm to 10:20pm, Says.com wrote.
Ms Wong suffered miscarriage last Saturday.

Speaking at a press conference organised by Selangor Gerakan chief Datuk Ang Chin Tat, the 26-year-old mom said she’s disappointed with Uber for not taking her case seriously.
“I lodged a complaint with them, but did not get an immediate response,” said Ms Wong said.
The claimant says she received a call form the company’s rep three days after the horrific experience.
“I was too distressed to talk to him (then), and only managed to express how upset I was over their lack of action,” she said, adding that the caller showed no sympathy for her pains but was rude instead.
Ms Wong is suing for the emotional stress caused her to miscarry.
Mr Ang said Gerakan has offered to help Wong and her partner file a lawsuit against Uber.
When the transportation network company was reached, a spokesperson expressed sympathy and explained that they have been working out solutions to the matter [with help from police] since they learnt of the incident.
The rep also said that Uber responded within hours of Ms Wong’s robbery experience.
“On police instruction, since this is an ongoing criminal investigation, we were unable to comment on the matter, or to reach out to either party,” the spokesman said.

“We have now been in contact with Madam Wong and will continue to engage her regarding this incident,” he added.
The robbery victim booked a ride from Mid Valley to Puchong after feeling sick around 9:30pm on that fateful night.
She said there was another occupant of the vehicle who sat on the passenger’s side. The duo robbed her at knife-point along the way.
“The well-being and safety of passengers remain top priority for SPAD. Once full regulation of e-hailing is passed in Parliament (expected by July), SPAD expects e-hailing operators to uphold the highest standards of safety and service quality,” the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) said, adding that Uber will be summoned for explanations.

The 22-year-old suspect has been arrested. He was nabbed at the Pagoh north-bound rest and service area at 11pm on Wednesday, and will remain in custody until 31 May.
