Neymar reacts to critics who called him ‘overweight’

Neymar Junior has been criticised on social media by some users who don’t think he is in shape. The Brazilian was pictured on a yacht, not looking at his finest earlier in August, with Tweeters blasting him.

The Brazilian superstar came under huge scrutiny after fans raised concerns over his physique and fitness earlier this summer when a shirtless picture of him on a yacht surfaced online.

The 29-year-old was on holiday after his exploits at the Copa America when the photo was taken and has since returned to PSG for this season.

PSG star Neymar has responded to criticism of his weight by saying he wore a larger than normal shirt when he played for Brazil on Friday (pictured left)

Neymar has only played 66 minutes from PSG’s opening four league games, with the forward returning later to training than some of his team-mates due to his busy summer.

The French media were reportedly ruthless in pillorying Neymar over his weight after he played just over an hour in PSG’s 2-0 victory over Reims, with AS claiming headlines accused him of being ‘out of shape’.

Neymar was further criticised on Friday, with his weight being brought into question once again after he played in Brazil’s 1-0 victory over Chile in their World Cup qualifier.

But the 29-year-old has allayed concerns by explaining he wore a larger than normal shirt while playing for Brazil, adding on Instagram that he would use a smaller size shirt for the next game.

“The shirt was an L, I’m at my ideal weight now, in the next game I’ll ask for an M,” he wrote on his story.
