Neymar Admits 2015/2016 Season Wasn’t His Best.

Famous Barcelona forward, Neymar has openly admitted that his club’s 2015-16 campaign wasn’t his best season although it ended well. One thing the Brazilian did right this time is putting Barca‘s interest above his ego.

The Catalans triumphed over Real Madrid to the La Liga title last weekend in what completed a 24th league title.

Neymar exploded as a true genius on the pitch at the start of the season when Messi was absent. He assumed the responsibility of a leader and was more like a magician, though short-lived.

The tide settled too quickly early this year as the superstar failed to score in 10 of his final 17 League games.

Neymar knew he wasn’t exploiting his full potentials and he publicly acknowledged he could have done better. Then the media called for his head with accusations of excessive night life but now it’s all over as the Brazilian stands a victor.

“This hasn’t been my best season,” the former Santos forward told Globo Esporte.

“I always like to surpass my statistics and records. I always want to better myself every day.

“Still, I’m proud of the League title that we’ve won, not only for my performances but those of the entire team.

“I have to congratulate my teammates as it was hard work [to achieve it].

“We had to work hard for the title because it was a difficult campaign. In the end, we got our rewards.

“[Luis Suarez] is a great player. He’s not just a goalscorer but also a playmaker.

“Besides being a good teammate, he’s a great friend and I’m so happy for him.

“We must always try to help him the best we can so he wins the Pichichi each season.

“The most important facet of our success is our team spirit and the happiness we feel when we help each other.

“[On the Olympics], I know that Brazilians dream of this Olympic medal.

“I also love it and I’ll fight for it. I know the fans have put their trust in me and I’ll try not to disappoint them.

“[On missing the Copa America], I’m not frustrated [about missing out].

“How can I be frustrated if I’m playing in a tournament I’ve never won [referring to the Olympics]?

“Of course I was excited about playing in both competitions, but I respect the decision that’s been taken.”
