Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba isn’t worth the €100 Million price tag – Verratti

Marco Verratti has criticized Manchester United for splashing a whooping €100 million on Paul Pogba, adding that no player in the world, including himself, is worth such an outrageous price tag.

The PSG star who has been linked with a move to Chelsea, says United was wasteful for paying “too much” to snatch the Frenchman from Juventus during last summer’s transfer window.

Though Marco has been rumored to have an estimated value of €100 million – same as Pogba’s, the player still maintains that clubs are messing up the game with cash.

In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, the 24-year-old said: “I am not worth €100 million.

“We are just playing football. These amounts of money make me laugh. No one is worth that much.

“I think it is bad for the players for whom such fees are paid as well because people expect impossible things.”

Verratti, who plays for the Italian national team, is considering a possible move to Chelsea. He has however warned that huge price tags put unrealistic expectations on footballers.

A recent interview with RAI Sport quotes the Italian as revealing why he turned down an offer from Real Madrid.

“Madrid? Their interest in me was very nice. It’s not every day that Madrid ask for you, but when I’m happy at a club I don’t want to start negotiations with any other. I want to win things in a PSG shirt,” he said.

Verratti also talked about his predictions on which clubs will win trophies across leagues around the globe.

“Real Madrid will triumph in La Liga, PSG will win it in France, Juventus will be crowned champions in Italy and Manchester City will capture the Premier League.

“Guardiola’s team are not showing their best form right now but they are the strongest in their league.

“Finally, Bayern Munich will win the Bundesliga. The last time I spoke to Bayern boss Carlo Ancelotti he told me he was convinced they were going to win the Champions League, so I’m backing them to do it,” he concluded.
