Manchester City have joined the list of clubs scrambling for services from James Rodriguez who currently plays at Real Madrid. Arsenal is said to have shown interest, too.

As Jorge Mendes (the player’s representative) is scheduled to meet Madrid President Florentino Perez next week, both are expected to discuss the footballer’s current situation in the squad. There could also be discussions on James exit especially regarding buy-out clauses and other legalities that’ll set him free to move to any club of his choice.

The Colombian star player has been a shadow of himself at the Santiago Bernabeu since Zinedine Zidane took charge in January. Although the player seem to be working his way up the ladder, it is widely speculated that he doesn’t have a good relationship with the coach.

According to El Confidencial, this has put both City and Arsenal on red alert for a player who was the star of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The highest goal scorer at the World Cup moved to the Spanish capital from Monaco after the tournament for a fee that reported to be around €80m.

Reports say, “The 24-year-old has a contract with Los Blancos that expires in 2020 but is becoming increasingly concerned about his long-term future under Zidane.

“James enjoyed a brilliant first season in La Liga, scoring 13 goals from 29 starts, but since then the playmaker has struggled to make an impact and may welcome a big-money move to the Premier League.”
