Grammy Award-winning American rapper and songwriter Kendrick Lamar will produce the soundtrack album for Marvel’s Black Panther.
Lamar, 30, is collaborating with longtime friend Anthony Tiffith, owner of Top Dawg Entertainment, the record label to which he is signed, and the two will work closely with Black Panther director Ryan Coogler to create music for the film.

Speaking at a press conference, Coogler said, “I am honored to be working with such an incredible artist whose work has been so inspirational, and whose artistic themes align with those we explore in the film. I can’t wait for the world to hear what Kendrick and TDE have in store.”
The collaboration is Coogler’s first time he will write, produce, perform, and curate for a major motion picture, and this could be his launchpad for many more to come.
Media reports confirm Black Panther’s first single is already out.
Black: Panther: The Album will contain a plethora of songs from the movie as well as some inspired by it, IGN said on its website. It is, interestingly, the first time Marvel Studios has created multiple original songs for a movie within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The album’s lead single “All The Stars” features Lamar and SZA, another artist signed to TDE.
Lamar also expressed his joy for the offer, saying, “Marvel Studios’ Black Panther is amazing, from its cast to its director. The magnitude of this film showcases a great marriage of art and culture. I’m truly honored to contribute my knowledge of producing sound and writing music alongside Ryan and Marvel’s vision.”
The film is expected on 16 February, 2018, but while waiting for the gin and juice, interested music lovers can listen to “All The Stars,” featuring K.Dot and label mate SZA right now!
The movie also features Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, and Danai Gurira, among others.
“‘Black Panther’ is just going to be really special…I don’t plug into film anticipation. But I can feel it. A lot of my friends have asked me to go to the premiere! Everyone in my network is excited about it, and you can feel it when they’re not,” Daniel Kaluuya, the “Get Out” star who also is featured in “Black Panther,” told AP recently.
