An SOS titled Demand Justice for Ollie has been sent to the American government and Indonesian president Joko Widodo, whose prompt action is required to bring an end to animal cruelty and particularly, sale of dog meat in the country.

A petition on Care2 website has a set goal of 15,000 signatures and has so far garnered 14, 745 endorsements.

According to the petitions website, participants are demanding justice for Ollie, an innocent and harmless pit bull which suffered over 50 stab wounds from an attacker identified as Brendan Evans.

The dog was later forced into a briefcase and abandoned for death but a successful emergency rescue operation offered hopes for Ollie.

Unfortunately, we lost the pet on 12 October, 2017 after a team of vets struggled to restore life.

Mutilations and torture from Evans were responsible for the dog’s death, and petitioners are asking for the full weight of the law on him.

The murderer has been charged with Aggravated Animal Cruelty, which is categorized as a 3rd Degree Felony in the state of Florida but we are not comfortable with the prospects.

If convicted, Evans will risk up to 5 years in prison but petitioners are clamoring for a stiffer penalty, saying the short prison term isn’t harsh enough for the merciless beatings and mutilations he meted on Ollie.

Audrey P. from North Carolina wrote, ‘It is incomprehensible how a human being can be this wicked to an animal. We can’t let these events continue…Animal abuse must stop now.’

She added, ‘Penalties for arrested offenders should be harsher. I would also recommend that people and authorities keep a close tab on this horrid person as killing/mutilating/abusing animals usually leads to the same treatment of people. This guy is obviously wicked, dangerous, and a threat to humans as well.’

The website reported that cat paws were found in Evans’ freezer during a house search by police. Some of the evidence gathered include animal fur from his oven.

Evans is a repeat offender; he has been charged with previous cases of burglary, domestic violence and probation violations.

According to experts, statistics show that people with such records end up applying the same cruelty to humans, and in this regard, petitioners are asking the authorities to ensure he receives a maximum prison time which would in turn, serve as deterrence to potential animal torturers and abusers.
