Nurses with Wugang City People’s Hospital intravenously administered expired normal saline into six children Sunday afternoon, according to a statement from the city’s publicity office, China Daily reported.

After the strange discovery was made, all victims of the fake drugs were quickly transferred to the city’s Provincial Children’s Hospital for emergency treatments.

However, the report confirms that none of the kids showed signs of adverse reactions.

Hunan’s Market and Quality Supervision Administration, together with the Health Inspection Department have reportedly sent their representatives to the hospital to carry out a thorough inspection at the hospital pharmacy.

Meanwhile, the hospital’s Deputy Director, a Head Nurse at the paediatrics department and several other nurses remain suspended pending further investigations.
