In her second public appearance since losing to Donald Trump on 9 November, Hillary Clinton attended UNICEF’s 12th annual Snowflake Ball at Cipriani Wall Street to honor Katy Perry – one of her staunch celebrity supporters who gave everything during the campaign period.

At the celebrity-studded event, Pamela Fiori, Hillary Clinton, Katy Perry, and Caryl Stern presented their awesome speeches, but one stood out from the crowd. It was Mrs Clinton’s.

The 69-year-old Democrat honored the pop star, saying: “On a personal level, I cannot tell you how delighted I am to be here to help celebrate a global megastar.”

As she presented Kat with the Audrey Hepburn Humanitarian Award, the former Secretary of State added: “I have seen Katy’s commitment to the causes she believes in firsthand.

“I’ve gotten to spend time with her and I know how deeply she cares about making our world a better place. She is serious about understanding the complex problems we face and pulling people together to solve them.

“We need champions like Katy now more than ever: her passion, her energy and, yes, her voice, louder than a lion.”

She described Perry as someone with “the spirit and the energy and the compassion that Audrey Hepburn brought to her work from UNICEF,” adding that Perry’s lyrics “remind us when you get knocked down to get back up.”

Mrs Clinton was given a standing ovation for her presence at the occasion before Kat spoke.

Perry, 32, became a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Children’s Fund in 2013.

Reports confirm that a tearful Kat was humbled by Mrs Clinton’s show of love and respect. Her appearance at the event was a huge surprise for many people, especially her best friend Perry.

In her speech, Perry was full of praise for Mrs Clinton, shouting amid cheers from the emotional crowd: “Hillary has lit that voice inside of me, and that light will never go out!

“It will get brighter and brighter and brighter.

“Thank you, Hillary. You motivate me and so many millions of people who appreciate you for your incredible work, your heart.”

As the excited crowd gave another ovation, Perry added: “Truly my work has just begun, and this award is a starting line, not a finish line.”

Part of her responsibilities as an ambassador is to “recruit young people in UNICEF’s work, travel to some of the poorest and most remote regions in Madagascar and Vietnam to bring awareness to UNICEF’s child protection, education, and health programs,” according to the official statement announcing the award.

  1. Very nice for the women. They supported each other and stuck with each other even in defeat. That’s what friends are for.
