Gerard Pique believes there’s a plot against Barcelona in La Liga

Gerard Pique has been the most controversial Spain and Barcelona player in recent years. His claims that some referees in the Spanish football league are out to stop La Blaugranas’ achievements was once again a hot topic in the media after their 1-1 draw against Villarreal.

The 29-year-old says Bruno‘s two handballs which were ignored by the referee has given him another chance to back up his earlier criticisms.

“There were two very clear handballs by Bruno,” Pique told reporters, not minding the fact that his recent outburst may have offended La Liga’s elite powers.

“I have also seen Mascherano’s, but we speak of intentions,” he continued.

“The referees [like Ignacio Iglesias Villanueva who officiated the game against Villarreal]? You saw it. Each week they give me more reasons.

“It’s very clear what has happened today on the pitch so there is no need to say anything else.”

A report from RAC1 showed Pique pointing up to someone in the stands after their humiliating game against Villarreal.

It’s yet unknown whose attention he was calling for, but football analysts believe his behavior to be totally overboard.

“Have you seen him? Yes you, have you seen him?” the news outlet quoted Pique as saying.

“[On Villarreal being a better side in the match] We played a lot better than them but I think they are details to analyse later,” he argued.

Notwithstanding Barca’s current league standing, the Spaniard believes they still have a chance to win the trophy, adding that they’ll never give up on the race until it’s over.

“The league is not lost at all, I’m convinced we can turn this around and can win it, but we have to change things.”
