Two French policemen will face trial for their alleged involvement in the rape of a Canadian tourist.

Local media reports confirm the accused police officers gang-raped their victim at Paris police headquarters.

The alleged rapists worked as anti-gang policemen and have been verified to be members of the BRI force. In her statement to investigators, the Canadian woman said she met a group of officers across the street near the Seine river in an Irish pub in April 2014.

‘We had some drinks before they invited me for a night tour of the headquarters where they raped me several times,’ she said. The spot was 36 Quai des Orfevres, a famous address often used in detective novels and depicted in many crime movies.

Judges in France previously discarded this lawsuit but the Paris prosecutor and Canadian woman won their appeal. The case is now back in court and trial starts on Monday.

If eventually convicted of the crime, both police officers face up to 20 years in prison.
