Fabian Barthez, the World Cup winner with France who also plied his trade with Manchester United in the English Premier League is currently living his dream as a speed car racer.
The former goalkeeper joined Motorsport in 2008. He worked hard enough to win the French GT Championship in 2013. He joined the competition again in 2014 but finished at the 29th position with his fellow drivers.
Barthez retired from professional football in 2007 and began a career in Motorsport in 2008.
Reports have confirmed that Barthez will race in this 2016 car racing event tagged 24 Hours of Le Mans race.
He will race for under the name of Panis-Barthez Competition team – a team which he co-established with former F1 driver Olivier Panis.
The race lasts 24 hours. It is purposefully designed to test the durability and endurance of sports cars.
The event is scheduled to take place from the 18th until the 19th June.
Fabian Barthez won honors as a goalkeeper with Marseille, Manchester United and the French national team, with whom he won the 1998 FIFA World Cup and Euro 2000 and reached the final of the 2006 World Cup.
He shares the record for the most World Cup finals clean sheets (10) with Peter Shilton.
In club football he won the Champions League as well as several Ligue 1 and Premier League titles.
