I have a daughter, and I know it will be a struggle if she wants to dress this way, but not because I will judge her or think less of her for her fashion choices, but because I want her to be prepared in a world where people do openly criticize fashion choices and objectify others. I will be more focused on raising a young woman who has thick skin, an awareness of how her behaviour or appearance may be perceived, and prepare her to face criticism but be true to herself and express herself despite that, rather than raise her trying to control what she wears and ridiculing her for her appearance or choices (she doesn’t need that from her mum).
