Belgian Cyclist Daan Myngheer Dies from Heart Attack.

It’s barely a week since the sports world lost the football legend Johan Cruyff and now, Daan Myngheer a Belgian cyclist has died from heart attack.

The 22-year-old died last night after suffering heart attack during the opening the opening stage of the Critérium International in Corsica on Saturday.

Myngheer started the first round of the three-stage race. He was said to have felt some discomfort and had to abandon the race.

The cyclist was put in an ambulance but en route the hospital in Ajaccio, he suffered a heart attack. Then he was put on life support and transferred from the ambulance to a helicopter. The medical personnel placed him into an induced coma to help him in the fight for his life but all efforts failed.

His family watched over him until he passed away.

Myngheer joined Roubaix-Lille Métropole from the Verandas Willems team early this year.

A statement from Roubaix-Lille Métropole said: “It is with great emotion that we announce the death of Daan. He lost his last race after struggling as a great champion.
