“Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” has pulled in an impressive 130 million yuan and is still adding up since it debuted in China on Friday.
The superhero movie has scored a superhero-sized start at the box office here in China.
The movie starring Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill has roared to the sixth-biggest opening release for an American movie in China.
The film has also dethroned the most recent animation hit “Zootopia” as it ruled Friday’s box office.
It’s been nearly two years since Superman’s (Henry Cavill) colossal battle with Zod (Michael Shannon) devastated the city of Metropolis. The loss of life and collateral damage left many feeling angry and helpless, including crime-fighting billionaire Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck).
Convinced that Superman is now a threat to humanity, Batman embarks on a personal vendetta to end his reign on Earth, while the conniving Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) launches his own crusade against the Man of Steel.
