Alexis Sanchez has been considered a doubt for the match against Manchester United after he picked up an injury while on international duty for Chile.
Things are about to get ugly for the Gunners as the events surrounding Sanchez’s injury has been provoking, for both fans and the club management.
There’s no confirmation yet on how long the player will remain on the sidelines.
Arsenal’s medical staff cannot carry out diagnosis at this moment, though reports say Chile’s Football Association is calling the injury a “low-grade muscle tear.”
However, the latest health report on Alexis, one of Arsenal’s best players since the start of this season, is a huge blow to Arsene Wenger’s men as they march out against Manchester United.
According to reports, the striker’s “calf problem” is actually a hamstring injury, and Wenger is angry with the country’s FA for playing games with such a serious issue.
Worse still, Chile FA decided to keep Alexis with the national team, hoping their star player would regain fitness and feature against Uruguay on Tuesday. And Arsenal boss says this is a “suicidal decision”.
beIN Sports reported an interview with Wenger, who said:
“I got a text last night (to say) that he has a hamstring injury. The team from Chile has travelled without him and they kept him to try and get him fit to play Uruguay for the second game on Tuesday night.
“I believe that with a hamstring injury. We have to get access for our medical staff to the MRI scan to see what grade it is, how bad it is and make absolutely sure they don’t make any suicidal decision that could harm his future for two or three months.
“That is absolutely important. It’s a grey area between the national team and the club team and of course they look at their own results which I can understand but we have to preserve the health of Alexis Sanchez.”

“He always wants to play and that’s where it is a more sensitive case because he’s always ready to play even when injured,” Newsweek quoted Wenger on the 27-year-old footballer.
